What a Buddhist challenge I’m going through. Publishing a book is truly like giving birth. I don’t know what I’d do if it weren’t for my translator, Itamar Friedman , the man’s not just a wizard with languages, he’s also an expert in all the various eBook platforms.
A month and a half ago, I published the book. I was on top of the world, convinced I’d set the internet on fire within days. And once again , as anyone who reads the book will learn , I was proven wrong.
Thing is, I came prepared. Even before the launch, I set up an intriguing Instagram profile with content from the book and racked up over 5,000 followers before it even went live. Not only that, I even lined up some paid partnerships with key literary influencers before the book was out, all to get it some exposure. All told, I partnered with enough influencers to reach a combined audience of about 8 million followers!
But the sales report , which I refresh every ten minutes , stubbornly shows only two copies sold this month. On the other hand, somehow the book has a 4.8 rating on Goodreads.com, with over a hundred reviews, each one more moving than the last. And on yet another hand (if I even had that many), the book keeps sinking lower in its category rankings every single day.
So what do I do? Wait. Patience has never been my forte, but is that really too much to ask? Read me. Give me a chance to move you. Then tell me about it , leave a review, send me an email , share it with me, share it with the world. Did it stay with you afterward, too? Did it make you squirm a bit in your seat? Love me or hate me , at least you’ll know how to spell my name 🙂
In the meantime, every platform poses a different challenge, and that’s how this website came to be. I’ll be posting a blog here from time to time, and it’ll be sent to anyone who signs up for my newsletter. If Goodreads.com hadn’t insisted I have a website just to link my author page to the book’s Amazon page , there wouldn’t be a site, wouldn’t be a blog.
So maybe it’s for the best, because alongside the four literary projects I’m working on, I’ll also be writing here, for you. For fuck’s sake, come read!
